Triangle Piercing

TRIANGLE PIERCING ORIGIN: - The Triangle piercing is done in the small area behind the clitoris and in front of the urethra, it is not a traditional piercing.

PLACEMENT: - The placement of this piercing is very important. This piercing goes through a small triangular space (hence it's name) that can be located behind the clitoris. It takes a very experienced piercer to do this piercing due to the increased risk with it.

This is a High risk piercing if done by someone who does not know what they are doing. It should take no more than a couple of seconds to do however, the placement is essential. It may take some time to place but the actual piercing is fast and fairly painless. (generally a short sharp sting.)

RISKS:-

The main risk with this piercing is that the needle could go too deep or be placed badly and hit the urethra which can lead to urinary tract infections or problems.

The piercing needs to be placed directly through the triangle space.

The other risk is hitting an artery or small blood vessel which can cause extra pain and/or bruising. At worst it would cause a hemorrhage under the skin and the area will go black. (Not nice). This is why this piercing is best left to a professional who has experience in working in this area.

It is best done gently and with a piercing blade and NOT a Canulae Needle because bruising can also lead to a urinary tract infection. If stinging occurs during urination for more than a day after this piercing has been done then some ways to help treat urinary tract infections are: Drink plenty of water, Drink Cranberry juice, Ural sachets or see a doctor for antibiotics.

Care needs to be taken for some time as this piercing heals initially within as few as 4 to 8 days it is tempting to stress it and "try it out" however, it takes some time for the piercing to toughen up and so for the first 4 months care needs to be taken that only gently tugging or pulling is done. Once settled it is rare for this piercing to tear.

Infection is also rare because of the short healing time but care must be taken to ensure it is kept clean and dry.

HEALING:- This is a topic that is very controversial as each piercer has different ideas on what heals. Basically the skin needs time to form a tube of scar tissue around the piercing. If it is kept clean and free from dirt, germs and fluff then it will heal quickly and can be healed in roughly 2 days to 4 weeks. Everyone is different.

Your own urine acts as an antiseptic to yourself and this piercing heals quite fast because of this. I recommend having a squirt bottle of salt water to rinse with instead of drying after going to the toilet. Squirt with salt water and then just gently pat dry - this with the use of Betadine Liquid should assist in faster healing.

We recommend using salt water and Betadine liquid. You can use saline solution or make up your own by using 1 cup of boiled water and 1/2 tsp. of salt.

Betadine - There is controversy over Betadine Liquid as it can impede cell generation and therefore slow healing. However it is great for killing bacteria and so we say use it sparingly once a day and then once every second day as the piercing heals providing you use salt water to help keep your piercing dry it should not cultivate bacteria easily.

DO NOT USE - Cotton wool, tissues or anything fibrous to clean your piercing - use your fingers - the fibers can enter the piercing and cause a splinter reaction which will cause the piercing to migrate.

Avoid swimming pools as the chlorine does not kill all of the germs and this is a place where infections can start.

Any problems see our GENERAL HEALING page.

ADVANTAGES:- There are many reasons for getting any piercing..
