Soil Preparation: Prepare soil ready for
planting of roses, deciduous trees and shrubs. Choose well drained areas, and
dig in plenty of animal manure. When purchasing deciduous trees, choose those
which will not grow too big. Flowering cherries, prunus, crab apples, ginkgo,
and crepe myrtle are ideal. Remember roses need full sun.
Bulbs: It's your last chance to plant bulbs such as liliums, ranunculus, tulips and hyacinth.

Lift summer flowering bulbs such as
gladioli and dahlias and store in a dry place during winter.
Compost: Leaves and
lawn clippings which have been composted should be lightly sprinkled with lime.
Also place newspaper occasionally between lawn clippings (approx. every 15cm.),
and spray with water if compost becomes too dry. Add a little sawdust if
contents become too wet.
Lawns: Frosts are
approaching so raise the mower blades to protect vulnerable grasses.
