0five2 ...It's been great to know ya'

Those of you who made it along to the Dec '99 session of 0five2 would know that it was a great night. Perhaps not all of you however, would be aware that it was the last one.

Thanks to all those who made it such and enjoyable evening; the great performers, the management and staff of the Railway Hotel and of course, the many people who participated by turning up to witness and enjoy the spectacle of it all. Nights like that are what makes it all worthwhile. 0five2 and other similar projects don't happen without lots of hard work. Seeing a room full of happy people, captivated by the offerings of some very talented locals, all giving 110% in their performance is one of the most rewarding experiences I've known.

The first Wednesday of every month has been "sacred" to me now since October 1994 (well... actually we used to do it on Thursdays then). Since that time there's only been four occasions when I've missed an 0five2. It's provided a great opportunity to see some fantastic talent. Often from experienced professionals, the bulk of it however, from emerging artists, keen to try their stuff in front of the most consistently appreciative and encouraging audience I've ever seen. Over the course of it all, some 500 or so acts have appeared and dozens of visual artists have exhibited works. I won't even attempt to mention them all here. I will mention though, some of the people who've been instrumental and/or supportive over the last five years or more. It's because of their support that 0five2 has been able to support the creative arts in the Geelong region so actively.

Thankyou:
Robert Drummond (founding Godfather), Kellie-Jayne Chambers and Lisa Jarvis (resurrection midwives and stoic believers), John (J.P.) Parry, Darren Hanna, Pam Marshall, Remmy's Cafe Bar (no longer with us) Soho Brasserie (sadly gone too), National Hotel, Lamby's Bar, The Wool Exchange Night Club, Rebar (Preston Hotel), De La Ville Hotel, Forte Magazine, Lord Nelson Tavern, Eureka Hotel, City of Greater Geelong Youth Services, Geelong Summer Festival, Geelong Performing Arts Centre, Deakin University Printery, Moontimes, Geelong Folk Music Club, Geelong Radio (100.3FM), Noel Murphy, Geelong Advertiser, The Max Hotel, Pako Festa and most recently, The Railway Hotel.

Thanks of course to all the performers and exhibitors and especially thankyou, for your support of 0five2.

I hope you all continue to enjoy and encourage the wealth of creative talent that's alive in our community. Imagination is the key to evolution.

Seeya, xxx Paul McMahon.
