Why Is The Insect Family So Interesting?
The insect family is the biggest animal family on earth. There are more than one million different insects already known but scientists know that there are many more different insects still to be found.

Insects can live in places that other animals can't live in. Some insects can live in the desert where the temperature can be over 40 degrees. Other insect eggs can last in temperatures much colder than a freezer.

Because insects are so small they are very light. This means that gravity has almost no effect on them and they can run up and down walls, which is something that other animals can't do. If the insects do fall off they hardly ever get hurt by the fall because they are so light.

Even though a lot of insects live in fresh water, hardly any insects live in the sea.

Scientists think that insects were the first animal family to fly.
