316L Surgical Stainless Steel is the most common piercing jewellery available.Being the most common and easiest to get hold of does not mean that it is the best. Stainless contains nickel and other metals - the L stands for Lead.
Therefore, some people may react to this and have problems healing their piercings.
In Europe it is law that Surgical is not to be used in innitial piercings.
At Body pleasure we have been doing the majority of piercings with Titanium or PTFE some people however, still prefer surgical.
We have noticed that there is a slower healing time with Surgical Stainless Steel than with titanium, it takes longer for a piercing to heal done with surgical and therefore there is a greater chance of an infection getting into the piercing.
Surgical should be fine however for healed piercings.
