Healing Piercings
* Things marked with the star are most important.
*CLEAN: Twice Daily with cooled boiled water using your fingers to ensure the ring is clean before moving it. RINSE: as above after showers.
AFTER CLEANING APPLY: Betadine Liquid or Salt water (1/2 tsp. salt : 1 cup boiled water)
*LEAVE IT ALONE: Give your piercing time to heal between cleaning it without moving or touching it. (DONT FIDDLE!)
VITAMINS: Vit D, Zinc or Multivitamins may aid healing.
*IF YOU GET AN INFECTION SEEK MEDICAL ADVISE - ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENTS GENERALLY HELP.*
DONT USE * Cotton Wool, Tissues, or anything that may cause fluff to get into your piercing. * Mentholated Spirits, Tea Tree Oil, Bepanthen, Peroxide, Chlorhexidine, Detol, Savlon, Peroxide, Hibiclense or any oil based or soap based products. * Avoid Swimming in chlorinated pools - the Beach is fine. * Do Not use Betadine on GOLD or Niobium Jewelry - it will tarnish it. * Do Not remove jewelry without contacting us first.
*RINSE: with LISTERINE ORIGINAL (The yellow one) at least 3 times a day for 2wks. Reduce this to twice daily when the top of your tongue becomes white. You can dilute it with boiled water 50% ratio if you wish.
DRINK: Drink plenty of boiled or bottled water during the first weeks.
RINSE: With Boiled or bottled water or Listerine after eating, drinking, smoking or taking drugs..
*AVOID: Other peoples body fluids for the first 2 weeks.
AVOID: Soups/foods that have small pieces like corn/seeds in them as small particles can enter your piercing.
SWELLING: Excess swelling can occur - Contact us immediately if you are worried or the balls are sinking well into your tongue. Undo the bar by turning both balls in opposite directions - (one will unthread as both balls should undo) only remove it if you are unable to contact us. If you are unable to undo the bar try using rubber or latex gloves, they help you grip the ball.
*CLEAN: Twice Daily with Cooled Boiled water. As for Body Piercings.
DRINK: Plenty of water as this will stop urine stinging.
AVOID: Toilet paper getting into your piercing, pat gently and use strong toilet paper that doesnt fall apart.
*AVOID: Other peoples body fluids.
ABSTAIN: We recommend that you avoid sex for 2 weeks and then use a condom until healed.
NOTE:
All piercings need time to settle and heal some soreness, an amount of swelling and slight redness are normal and can be expected however, excessive swelling or redness may be signs of allergic reaction or infection and must be checked.
If you are at all worried about the health of your piercing or excess swelling or redness occurs ~ come and see us, go to your GP, local emergency or a Professional Piercer immediately.
Be Gentle, dont pull on any piercing for the first 4 months - even once healed.
