Taken from chapter four of the Constitution which deals with the function of the Australian Marian Academy.

Born in the closing years of the second Christian millennium, the Australian Marian Academy seeks first and foremost to be attuned to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Thus it strives to be obedient to the wishes and teachings of the Vicar of Christ on earth by which the promptings of the Holy Spirit become fully manifest to the whole Church. In this papal teaching the “Marian Dimension” not only is unmistakable, but has been held up as “the constant reference point for the Church”. If the turmoil in the Body of Christ cannot be denied, and is now worldwide, what, then, is to be said about this persistent teaching on the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the life of individual Christians? More than its opposite, it is meant to have universal appeal, to have global extent and purpose.

Plainly, it is the wish of the Church that Her Marian teaching be accepted as the universal solution to match and overcome the global spread of error and sin. For this reason the Australian Marian Academy accepts with gratitude as its implicit and potential members all those humble and child-like souls who are attuned to this teaching and who try to implement it in their daily lives. This makes it easier to know and recognize our active members. They will all be characterised by their love of the Mother Church and by their defence of her hierarchical structure. And coming to the aid of Catholic Truth, they will “contend forever with error” (His Holiness Pope Leo XXIII, 1979).

They renovate the world through the pursuit of a Marian holiness of life in obedience to the superior Wisdom of the Cross and of papal teaching. And with their God-given talents they will do much to expound this Wisdom and this teaching in their own area of expertise: theology, philosophy, exegesis, Catechetics, devotional writings and science.

Their Marian brightness beckons like a beacon, lighting up for their contemporaries that ‘Ancient Path’ that leads from the slavery of sin into the promised land of Truth ‘amidst all the trials and tribulations’ in which the work of the Holy Spirit is to be discovered.

It is the genius of His Holiness Pope John Paul II that, attuned to the same Holy Spirit, he has made the re-discovery of this ancient and difficult path universally attractive. Unable to resist for long the strong Marian appeal, people everywhere will end up choosing this path ‘for themselves and for their children’ (Mt. 27:25).

May we hope then that in this Marian way and under this Marian influence and inspiration, the Dogma of the Faith may somehow be preserved in faithful Portugal according to the promises made by Our Blessed Lady at Fatima.
